Book List ~ ADHD/Natural/home remedies for all sorts of things and more

I have a few books in my personal library that have been great points of reference to me and thought I would share them with all of you.  Most of them had been suggested to me by our midwife and some were things that I found when researching ADHD and other Autism Spectrum Disorders... working with dietary management instead of choosing pills.

{I just want to mention here that Dr. Feingold was our starting place for our research and his books were invaluable... read his bio... he was an amazing man and way before his time!  http://www.feingold.org/bio.html }

We immuninzed our first child and when he received his MMR between 15 and 18 mos of age he stopped talking... just stopped!
We had NO idea that there was a connection... that was back in the mid 90's.
When it came time to immunize our daughter when she came along in 2001 we started to do a little research.  She did get a few things early on, but before the end of the year I stopped completely.  I couldn't believe how many more shots were being given to babies than even Robert had been given and I didn't think it was right.  Luckily I had a friend that had chosen the same route and even though she was in a different state we kept in close contact and she was my life line... I was so concerned that the drs would get out of sorts and refuse to care for my children if we didn't immunize.  I was also afraid of what the schools would say and what my family would say.  Well, I bucked the system  - all the way and even withdrew our son out of the school system and started homeschooling him in kindergarden.  He was Dx with ADHD and the Dr. wanted to put him on meds... I wanted to try diet to see how that would work.  Went back to the Dr. a month later and he asks ' is that the same kid you brought into me last month?'  he put away his script pad in astonishment and said keep up the good work.  He was totally shocked that diet managed his symptoms so well.  I have to say that it isn't easy, but it is well worth the extra effort.

So, on with the book list as well as internet links that may be of interest to all of you.

No More Amoxicillin: Preventing and Treating Ear and Respiratory Infections Without Antibiotics [Paperback]  I believe this book may have 'lymph massage' in it.  A great way to prevent every thing from colds to ear infections.
Watch out though... once you learn the lymph massage and you work the magic on your children they may want you do 'give massage mommy' all the time! :D

The Feingold Cookbook for Hyperactive Children[Paperback]

Mommy Diagnostics: The Naturally Healthy Family's Guide to Herbs and Whole Foods for Health[Illustrated] [Paperback]

Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats [Paperback]
A very informative recipe book with loads of info as to how, and why, etc about foods and traditions.  We attribute this book to saving our sons life as he was just a deflated football at 1.5 years old and not doing anything but laying there.  There was an amazing transformation after we implented just a few of the things in this book.  If I had to leave my house in a hurry and could only take two books I would take the family Bible and this one.  That is how important I feel it is.

Remedies for the Itchies ~
for stings/insect bites:  Bentonite clay can be used also to draw out the toxins. You can keep some mixed up for emergencies as well... 1:1 clay and water... takes a couple hours to mix completely. Also support him with large doses of vit C. For immediate relief of the itchies take colloidal oatmeal and some water to make a paste and apply... I've also added tea tree and lav oils to these to help ward off the chance of infections when dealing with open/semi open wounds. I find that both oils actually help ward off the itchies when I get a mosquito bite and the swelling goes down right away... I just apply right out of the bottle... same with no-see-ums/chiggers. Tea Tree and Lav oil never cease to amaze me!

For illness such as chicken pox, measles, fifth disease, etc:
for treatment of rashes etc 'Mommy Diagnostics' says this: Itchy rash: Nettle tea in a bath or an oatmeal bath (colloidal is just take oats - I prefer using organic - and place them in a blender until they produce a fine powder - it easily dissolves in the tempid water and your skin LOVES IT!). EO of Lav oil (I like to add tea tree as well). Another 'wash' for the itchy spots is 1 oz dried rosemary, 1 oz calendula decocted in 1 qu of water for a tea. Strain the tea and cool, then apply with a washcloth each night for duration of spots/rash discarding tea every 3 days and making new. Scar prevention and healing the lesions: zinc in a chewable tablet... up to one week at max levels. Immune Support: Echinacea and thyme for general immune support: for more skin (rash & lesions) - BactaMune. For myself... I would add lymph massage to the regimine as well as using eo's of thyme, rosemary, lav, and tea tree during the massage added to carrier oils. Cut an onion in half and leave it sit out on the night stand to help pull the infection... don't eat the onion afterward. LOL it will be full of nasty things. And all above oils plus/or oregano oil on the bottoms of the feet. Oregano oil on the feet has a cleansing effect.... particularly for the liver from what I remember. Make sure to get a LOT of yogurt and or kefir into everyone in the family.... it will help everyones body battle what is going on.
