About the Admins and Members of Healthy Living for Healthy Families

Hi!  I'm Wendy,

I invite you to share your story with us below in the comments section.

I am a home/un-schooling mom of 5 children, my husband and I have a farmette including a very small flock of sheep, various fowl, rabbits, and other more typical pets.  We raise mushrooms - Portabella, White Button, Shiitake, Oyster, and are experimenting with Lions Mane and other not so typical varieties of Oyster mushrooms.  We have a large garden and grow everything using organic principles or as my husband puts it... "We use the Pinch and Pray Method".  We do not have any chlorine in our water nor do we add it... Dioxins are toxins.

I have a degree in psychology and chose to use it to benefit my family by staying at the farm with them.  Our oldest is 15 yo, is dyslexic and was Dx with ADHD, an ASD, in K due to vaccine injury at about 15 months old when he got his MMR back in '97.  Our daughter received vax's until she was a year old at which time we learned about the harm that vaccinations can cause, our third child was a home birth and has a genetic mitochondrial disorder ~ he has never been vaccinated, neither have our youngest two.  We have found that they have stronger immune defenses because of not vaccinating.  I had gestational diabetes with our fourth child who was our largest baby weighing 9 pounds... he was a hospital birth and got a little stuck on the way out.  For our fifth I had gestational diabetes again (they say it is my age - I'm now in my 40's) - my pelvis separated early which meant I was in a lot of pain the last three months of this pregnancy and found it extremely difficult to walk at times.  Baby was an unplanned home birth at 4:23 in the morning.  Daddy had the privilege to catch!  All five of our children were natural vaginal childbirth experiences without pain meds.  I'm very lucky... my body gives me notice about 24 hours before they are born too.  I have never had longer than an hour of being dilated from about 8 to pushing and pushing has never been more than 20 minutes.  Like I said - I'm very fortunate.

We are a family bed - extended breastfeeding family.  We currently have a 2 yo and a new baby in bed with us.  Yes, I'm tired... but feel very blessed to have my husband, babies, and critters to watch after.

We are gluten free (for the most part), raw dairy, we do fermented foods like Kefir, yogurt, & kombucha, no white flours or processed sugars, chemical free (no preservatives, dyes, fragrances etc including in household cleaners, detergents and food), Coconut products including oil, flour, milk, kefir, & nectar are a mainstay, and we do raw food for our pets and believe that since we don't immunize the children why were we over-immunizing the pets? So, we don't other than Rabies every 5 years (the vax actually lasts 7 years).

When shopping I go by the KISS principle... keep it simple Simon... meaning that if it takes a degree in science to read and understand what is on the ingredient label it stays in the store... as well as if it contains more than 4 ingredients and it isn't something that grandma would have recognized on her table it stays on the shelf.  That eliminates a LOT of garbage right off the bat.  We have lived this way since 2001.  In 2004 we bought and moved to our farm... the microwave stayed in storage... since then we have learned that we really didn't need that overpriced over the range microwave and the only thing it is really good at is being an over the range clock/timer, night light, exhaust fan, and best of all Bread Box!  LOL.

My goal in creating this page is to disseminate information that we have worked hard at collecting... in some cases years.  Sharing this information with others is well worth the effort.  We hope you enjoy your visit!

Blessings,
Wendy
